Focused Study: Anatomy of the Hand

This intermediate-level class will give you a chance to hone your skills in drawing the hand.  Working from big to small, we will learn the anatomical features of the hand to help inform our artistic practice.

Required Supplies

  • Drawing pad, 18” x 24”

  • 8.5” x 11” Bound Sketchbook

  • Graphite pencils of varying hardness (2H - 8B)

  • Kneaded eraser

  • Rubber eraser

  • Pencil sharpener

  • Blending stump or paper towel


All-Ages: Exploring the Tidepools of the Pacific Northwest

Location: Zoom, Hosted by The Drawing Studio

Sunday, Oct. 27 , 10 am- 12 pm

Get inspired by the forms and colors of the invertebrates of the PNW. Students of all ages are welcome in this class, we will be discussing the biodiversity of the PNW tidepools.

Students will observe and sketch from photos, videos, and live videos of tidepool creatures. We will be creating mixed-media sketchbook pages of our observations that can inspire your future work!

We will be working from photos & live videos of invertebrates


Botanical Illustration: Seaweed of the Pacific Northwest

Location: Zoom, Hosted by The Drawing Studio

Monday - Wednesday, Nov. 11 - 13, 6 - 8 pm

Explore the unique forms and colors of seaweeds in watercolor. We will start by drawing forms in graphite or watercolor pencil and then layering in watercolor.

We will be working from photos in this intermediate-level watercolor class. Drawing and watercolor demos will be given along with plenty of work time.

Colors of the Tides
